VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) Clark County District Court in Southwestern Washington has condemned Judge Darvin Zimmerman and a prominent law firm has called for his resignation for critical comments of a Black man killed by police.
Zimmerman, whose comments in the courtroom were posted on YouTube, described Kevin Peterson Jr. as “the Black guy they were trying to make an angel out of,” and said he believed he had a death wish and “was so dumb,” The Columbian reported.
The judge also said Peterson’s father had told a police chaplain he felt the shooting was justified but, “the next day, he wakes up with dollar signs in his eyes and George Floyd’s attorneys had already contacted him.” ....

ISLAMABAD: Senator Muzaffar Hussain Shah was appointed by the president to act as the presiding officer in the election of chairman Senate, but he was originally designated by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs for the slot to conduct the election of chairman on Friday.
The opposition candidate, Yusuf Raza Gilani, wasn’t consulted before the appointment of Senator Shah. The sources of the ministry told The News it was not mandatory on the government to consult the opposition before consigning summary for the appointment of presiding officer for the chairman Senate election. Incidentally, the opposition had reservations about the appointment of Muzaffar Shah who is a stubborn opponent of the PPP right from the beginning. ....

ISLAMABAD: Former Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said the Establishment did not have any involvement in the outcome of the election results but the Presiding Officer was member of the allied party of the government.

ATLANTA (AP) Georgia s Supreme Court justices voted unanimously Thursday to select the high court s next leader.
Presiding Justice David Nahmias is set to become chief justice when Chief Justice Harold Melton leaves the court on July 1. The justices also unanimously elected Justice Michael Boggs to succeed Nahmias as the next presiding justice.
Georgia chief justices serve one four-year term as the head of the state s judicial branch. The chief justice is the spokesperson for the high court and for the rest of the state s judiciary and presides over oral arguments and deliberation meetings. The chief justice also chairs the Georgia Judicial Council, which makes policy for the judicial branch. ....
